Job Title: Registered Nurse Job Description Primary Purpose The Registered Nurse – Resource Team provides comprehensive nursing care through skillful assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation in accordance with facility or department policies, procedures, and/or protocols under the supervision of the nursing leader. The RN Clinical Nurse/RT assists in maintaining a safe work environment and performs all related job responsibilities in a safe manner. The Registered Nurse – Resource Team maintains clinical and professional competency as appropriate to the population of patients served. Must be available to provide nursing services in all patient care areas of expertise and knowledge, at all elected facilities. A registered nurse's practice is guided by the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements. Minimum Job Requirements Education Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing. Certification / License Valid, active unencumbered Nursing license approved by the Georgia Licensing Board for GA locations and Alabama Licensing Board for AL locations. BLS required. ACLS required. Work Experience 2 years of nursing experience in specialty area required. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Patient Population Served Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and demonstrates the skills and competency appropriate to the ages, culture, developmental stages, and special needs of the patient population served. Census? 14 o Minimum Years of Experience required? 2 years ICU RN experience o Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes ? Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: o Medical ICU patients o Common diagnoses: respiratory failure, renal failure, sepsis, GI Bleed, DKA, hypotension, hypertension, stroke, pneumonia, cancer, ARDS, overdoses o Chronic ventilators and chronic trachs o Hemodynamically unstable patients requiring invasive monitoring and/or close observation ? Patient Ratios: o RN: 1:1-2 (rarely but possible 3) o CNA: 1-2 per shift ? Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance: o NIHSS, BLS, and ACLS certification required o CCRN (critical care nursing certification) preferred but not required ? Skills required: o trach chare, chest tube management, PIV starts, glucommander, insulin drips, heparin drips, drips to titrate to HR and BP o Management of vasoactive medications o Monitoring and management of invasive lines i.e. arterial lines, central venous lines, pulse oximetry, intracranial pressure monitoring o Assist/management of a variety of bedside procedures i.e. chest tube placement/management, tracheostomy, peg tube placement o TABLO o Management of patients on ventilator support ? Support within the Department: o CNA? Duties? Yes - assist with VS, Glucose Checks, baths, feeding, ambulating patients, assisting turning patients, hourly rounding, transporting patients as needed (Hospital has designated Transport Team); obtain blood from blood bank o Receptionist/HUC?
